Extensive Data and Clinical Capacity is Added to OPN’s Platform for Cancer Care
OPN Healthcare has enhanced its oncology services capabilities with the addition of proprietary Care Management Services team and the analytics program it has developed over the last 15 years. This will be led by the Dr. Anthony Lam, who was the creator of this innovative program along with his team of pharmacists, analysts and managed care coordinators. This proven platform currently serves 2.6 million plan members in optimizing their oncology care.
The Care Management Services team is a critical tool to provision better quality cancer care at a lower cost for all participants involved. OPN collects data in real- time which is then processed to generate actionable intelligence. This allows it to assist in the planning, managing, implementing and standardizing of oncology care.
For payors, OPN is able to document how the care is improved and how much they will save in treatment costs. Dr. Lam notes that, “oncology is expensive and problematic. Questions always circle around how much of oncology costs are legitimate. OPN is able to furnish accurate information with a level of detail that payors have not been able to see before, with complete transparency.”
In addition, OPN helps providers by showing them where opportunities are to operate as the healthcare industry transitions to a in the value-based model, while ensuring that they can provide the same standard of care. Oncologists often understand the economics to be competitive and secure contracts in the value care economy, but they may not understand how to get there and what is reasonable. The Care Management Services team will be a significant resource for delivering actionable intelligence regarding oncology care. As we see government players like CMS implement alternative payment models and commercial payer partners with providers on a risk a basis, this tool will allow payers and providers to better align on these themes and provide meaningful actionable approaches to their workflow in real time
CEO Srin Vishwanath sees the acquisition as a critical addition to the extensive platform OPN has developed for both the payor and the physician community. “This substantially enhances our toolset to optimize care within the value-based model. The Care Management Services team and their cutting-edge approach will help align both payors and providers and better implement and effectuate a value-based care model.”
Dr. Lam feels this is a great opportunity to offer advanced clinical and technological expertise to OPN’s expanding population of partners. “The tools we have developed can be easily deployed to any number of those involved in cancer care. More importantly, these services are especially suited to community oncology needs. As oncology care transitions to more value-based models, scalable models like these will become critical to ensuring a high standard quality of care that is affordable.”
